The first week of May, during the “Golden Week” is every year the moment of the ZNKR gatering known as the “Kyoto Taikai”. Demonstrations & matches in Jodo, Iaido & Kendo are organized at the Butokuden in Kyoto (Japan) for 6th up to 8th dan. At the 14th EJC in Falkenberg, Sweden, the Belgian Team (Marjan De Block, Karen Vermeulen & Valentin Vervack) has won the Team Event!
They got the gold medals and title of European Champion Jodo 2015.
In addition, Marjan De Block got the Silver Medal (Vice-European Champion) in the Yondan division while Karen Vermeulen and Valentin Vervack also got the Bronze medal in the Sandan division!

Fantastic results for the Belgian National Jodo Team during the EJC 2014 in TORINO! The Belgian Delegation, was composed of the the National Team Members, together with their coaches Jean Trembloy and Liviu Vlad and with referee Albert Vandebroeck-sensei. A Belgian delegation was present at this yearly event for Iaido and Jodo.
In the morning there was a mini-seminar, in the afternoon there was a taikai.
And the Belgians were once again outstanding:
Saturday – Iaido – 120 participants – 4 medals !
Sunday – Jodo – 48 participants – 5 medals !
This looks very promising for the future.
