The definitive delegation from Japan for our annual Winter Seminar is knew from now. This delegation has been reinforced, for the Jodo-part, by European Jodo Kyoshi 8th dan René Van Amersfoort and are assisted by a huge number of 7th dan coming from Italy, The Netherlands, France and Belgium.

Following the visit of Mimasaka city’s Mayor and Kendo Hanshi Tahara sensei last December 2016 during the Winter Seminar 2016, our NT Ladies were invited to join the 16th edition of the Otsu Cup.
Two of them, Lisa Van Laecken & Freija D’Hont, together with our President Dany Delepière and the European Tour leader Yoshinobu Kurogi joined the event.
As a part of the 17 people large selection of European Kendo Ladies, they will take part in a unique Women Kendo Tournament which will see 640 ladies in 194 teams competing.

Freija D’Hont (ladies team) and Adrian Detavernier (junior individual) were awarded “Fighting Spirit” on the first day of the EKC. On the second day, the Men team lost in 1/8 final from winner France. Ladies team lost the 1/4 final. At the third day, for the ladies and men individuals, Freija D’Hont and Kensaku Maemoto ended their tournament at the 3rd place. Sara Van Laecken got a “last” fighting spirit in this edition on the European Kendo Championships. Belgium was also represented in the pool of referees by two representatives: Chris Maes & Serge...
The 16th edition of the ABKF Summer Seminar will take place for the Iaido seminar the 18-19-20 August 2017 in the Centre sportif de Blocry, Louvain La Neuve and for the Kendo seminar the 23-24-25-26-27 August 2017 in the ADEPS Auderghem, Brussels.

Dear friends, A new season is upon us and a few changes will be brought to the schedule and preparation pattern of the national team of kendo. First of all, the national team training (NTT) will be held (whenever possible) every first sunday morning and complemented by two asa geiko on every second saturday and third sunday. The schedule and locations will be put on the ABKF agenda. The first week of May, during the “Golden Week” is every year the moment of the ZNKR gatering known as the “Kyoto Taikai”. Demonstrations & matches in Jodo, Iaido & Kendo are organized at the Butokuden in Kyoto (Japan) for 6th up to 8th dan. This year, five members took part in the Kendo division and one in the Iaido part.
